Moving Along with the Times - Sketch

This week at Moving Along with the Times the theme is to follow the sketch, shown above. I followed it very closely ! lol

I used lilac pearlescent card, from I know not where, for the A5 card - it's the first one in this size that I've made for years but I have to say that I quite enjoyed doing it. The backing paper is from Dovecraft. I used darker lilac card for the four strips and the backing to the image and sentiment, again it's pearlescent but I have no idea where I bought it from. The image is a Lili of the Valley digi and I coloured her with my Promarkers. The only embellishments were little lilac pearls from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Fitztown - Browns

This is my card for the current challenge at Fitztown Challenge blog so please come and join us and check out the rest of the creative team's cards. I chose Dog number 4 and you can buy him here.

My card blank is a small square by Crafts UK. The brown mottled backing paper is by Costco and the beige card is by Papermill. I wasn't sure what colours this dog should be but I was sure he would be OK in browns. lol I used my Promarkers to colour him and then I fussy cut him very carefully. I used a Sue Wilson Italian die to cut the beautiful dark brown mat for him. The dark brown card is also from Papermill. I raised the dog on foam pads so that he's sitting proud - I love him. I generated the sentiment on the computer and after matting it on to more beige card I tucked it just behind his ear.

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:

Fitztown - Altered Item

I did have fun with this one! This is the challenge this week at Fitztown Challenge Blog - an altered item. I was assigned the image Cameo 18, available here, and decided to alter a box, yes, I know it's a bag but here's what happened........................

I'd almost finished colouring the image and it was looking good. I'd done the skin and hair and the next day decided to give her antique pink lips, picked up my Promarker and the ink gushed out. It's the first time this has happened and she had very smudged lipstick. I touched a rose and she ended up with a pink neck too. It went in the bin. I coloured another and didn't use antique pink! I was going to use a box that used to hold fabric flowers and I covered the base beautifully in a lovely mottled pink paper. I made a start on the lid and made a right hash of it so that was binned too. I went for the easier option this time and used a simple paper bag.

My image was coloured with Promarkers and then I cut and embellished with one of my new Spellbinders Curved Borders Two at the top and bottom of the image. I then matted it on to pink pearlescent card. This was matted on to another Spellbinders diecut in bright pink card from Papermill. I also added the same shape to the other side of the bag to strengthen it. A Spellbinders Parisian border was added to the top of the turnover on the bag to give it a neat finish. I closed the bag with a pink star brad, from Create and Craft, and then all I had to do was add the pink paper roses which are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The green leaves are cut with Crealies dies. This will be used to hold a scarf for someone's birthday. A friend saw this just after it was finished and she nearly grabbed it for herself so I think it was a hit!

Fitztown - Pick a Holiday

Come and join us this week at Fitztown Challenge Blog and Pick a Holiday. Mine's a summer holiday.

I was assigned this beautiful country scene: image cs6, available here, and I immediately thought of the canal boat holiday that we never actually got to go on! When our boys were young we used to go camping almost every year and every year we talked about going on a canal boat holiday the following year. Why? I have no idea because I'm not very keen on being on the water so perhaps it's just as well that that holiday never did materialise. lol I'm sure that lots of people have fun when they go boating but it just isn't for me. The clouds had to show on my card because most years we had lots of clouds and we were rained off a few times. On a very odd occasion we had a red hot year and thoroughly enjoyed our camping experience.

Anyway I decided to enjoy colouring the image and this is what I came up with, I'm not sure that the water looks very good but I went for the dirty grey look. I used my Promarkers and Lyra aquacolours. I used a dark green card as the mat base and then matted a pale blue card, embossed with clouds, on to it. The card is from Papermill and the embossing folder is an embossalicious folder from Crafter's Companion. I used a Memory Box die for the fresh foliage at the top. The leaves at the bottom are from a pack of diecuts I've had for ages - I think I bought them from Create and Craft. I coloured this one and then generated the sentiment on the computer. I cut it with a Memory Box Marshmallow clouds die and edged it with Stormy Sky Distress Ink. The card blank is by Joanna Sheen.

Come along to Fitztown challenge blog  and join us in our Anything Goes challenge. It ends Sunday 13th July.

I was assigned the image Valentine 5, available here, and decided to make a Valentine's card with it because the image is so beautiful. Tiger lilies are my favourite flowers and so it wasn't difficult to work with this image. It was a joy to colour and after colouring I cut it with a grand Spellbinders classic oval. I added some faux gems, from JJD Cards, to the bottom edge. I generated a simple sentiment on the computer and then after cutting with a smaller Spellbinders classic oval I matted it on to a scalloped oval in orange pearlescent card. I added three more of the faux gems underneath the sentiment. My card blank is a large square by Joanna Sheen. The glittered backing paper is from a First Edition pad called Hideaway. I matted that on to plain orange card as the background and base for the image and sentiment. It looks quite effective now that it's finished and I love it. lol

Please check out the Fitztown challenge blog for details of the prizes.

MAWTT Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! and MY blog hop winner

OK the first thing I'm going to do is announce MY winner of the MAWTT Birthday Blog Hop. Thank you all for for your lovely comments and I'm so glad that you all enjoyed the hop. Without further ado I will announce that the winner is...............

I'll send you an email Debbie to get your details.

Janice is the hostess this week over at Moving Along with the Times and she chose the theme 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!'.

I had fun with this one (I'm not quite a girl but I was once - lol). I usually don't add too much because I like to keep things simple, however, I went to town on this one.

My card blank is by Joanna Sheen. The image is by Delicious Doodles and is called Sunshine Gal. I coloured her with my Promarkers and used Glossy Accents on her specs. I cut the image out with my x cut guillotine and matted it on to bright pink card from Papermill.  The lilac spotty paper is by Dovecraft and I matted that on the bright pink card too. I used a Spellbinders Parisian border for the fancy edge and then more Spellbinders dies for the sentiment base and other embellishments. The beads I bought when Eric and I were in Australia in 2010 and this is the first time I've used them. Little crystal flowers are set in the centre of two of the embellishments and below the sentiment. I can't even remember buying these but they were in my stash!

I'm entering my card into the following challenges:
Chocolate, Coffee and Cards - Summer Days
Crafty Catz Challenge - Anything Goes

I'm sorry that I haven't been around much, my eyes are still playing up and I'm spending as little time as possible on the computer. I can't believe that I can play a game on my laptop and my eyes stay open but I can hardly look at the computer screen or the TV and my eyes close. I'm fed up.
